IMPACT is part of the thursday afternoon congress program. On this day more than 3,000 congress participants will support a social project for the city of Munich.
Adventist youth donate $ 14.200 for Munich project „Help for Kids“
[Munich, 07-09-09] At the closing ceremony of the 2nd pan european adventist youth congress in Munich, Germany, the youth directors Corrado Cozzi (EUD) and Paul Tompkins (TED) presented a check of € 10.000 ($ 14.200) to Gerhard Wagner, leader of the Munich city’s youth council for a project called “Help for Kids”. According to Baraka Muganda at the final press conference of the youth congress “this was the first time ever, that a youth congress donated towards a community project”.
360 congress participants had collected the money by running their rounds on thursday afternoon (8-6-09) in Munichs Riemer Park in exceptionally hot weather. The distance of every round was 1422 yards. For every round the runners had found sponsors. Gabriel Haag of Switzerland collected in 9 rounds the total amount of € 960 ($ 1,362) alone.
IMPACTHilfe für Kids (Help for kids) is a project of the district youth council in downtown Munich that was initiated ten years ago. Its aim is to advance poor and socially disadvantaged children and adolescents. In the city of Munich, approximately 21.000 children and adolescents live in households with inadequate financial resources.
Hilfe für Kids provides free lunch, homework assistance, a range of offers in the areas of education and health, and holiday trips and excursions. Since all costs for administration and public relations are paid by the district youth councel, all donations will be fully used for these objectives.
